MEN’S SOCCER BEATS BROWN 3-0

Three different Friars scored in the victory.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 24th-ranked Providence College men's soccer team defeated Brown University, 3-0, Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Sophomore forward Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.), Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.), and Thomas Tulgar (Bergenfield, N.J.) scored for the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 

• Both teams remained scoreless at the end of a closely contested first half.
• The Friars outshot the bears 5-1 in the first half.
• Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) scored the opening goal for the Friars in the first half off of a corner kick.
• Late in the second half, freshman Thomas Tulgar (Bergenfield, N.J.)  scored to extend the Friars lead to two.
• Sophomore Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) scored another goal for the Friars just two minutes later to give the Friars a 3-0 lead.
• The Friars outshout the Bears 14-5 in the match.
• Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) earned his second clean sheet of the season.

HOW THEY SCORED 

1-0 (Providence) – 50:58/2nd –Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) scored off of a corner kick sliding the ball in the bottom right corner, he was assisted by Luis Garcia (Gran Canaria, Spain).
2-0 (Providence) 78:28/2nd – Thomas Tulgar (Bergenfield, N.J.)  scored off a shot placed into the upper left corner of the goal, unassisted.
3-0 (Providence) 80:14/2nd Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) scored on a shot he placed in the upper right corner of the goal, assisted by Simon Triantafillou (Ontario, Canada).
