PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, August 30. This marked Smith's first BIG EAST weekly recognition.
Smith helped the Friars defeat No. 23 Fordham, 3- 0, on Thursday, August 26
th. Smith scored his first goal of the season for the Friars in the second half to increase their lead to two with just under six minutes to play. Smith also recorded a goal and an assist Sunday, August 29
th in the Friars 6-2 victory over Saint Peter's University. Smith leads the team in points thus far with five points on two goals and one assist.
The Friars have raced out to a great start to the 2021 season with two victories at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Up next, the Friars will travel to Durham, N.H. to face off against another ranked opponent, No. 17 New Hampshire.
