PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Recent Providence College graduate and field hockey stand-out
Maddie Babineau (Grimsby, Ontario) has been named to Canada's Indoor National Team and will compete in the Pan American Cup on June 25-27 in Spring City, Pa. The tournament champion will earn the right to represent the Pan Americas and advance to the FIH Indoor World Cup, scheduled for 2022 in Belgium.
Canada will play a full-group, round-robin with Uruguay, Guyana, USA and Argentina before moving into the medal rounds. Babineau is one of 12 players on the roster, in addition to two reserves.
In her final season with the Friars (spring 2021), she started nine games and recorded one assist. At the conclusion of her senior season, Babineau was named NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region First Team, All-BIG EAST First Team and earned a spot on the NFHCA Division I Senior Team.
For her career, Babineau started all 66 games in the midfield for the Friars. She collected 27 points on six goals and 15 assists. She helped guide Providence to three BIG EAST Tournament appearances in her four seasons with the team.
