Joao Serrano Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Serrano earns league recognition for the second time this season.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 16. He was previously named to the weekly honor roll on Sept. 2.
Serrano tallied three of his five points on the season over this past week. He assisted Providence's first goal in a 4-0 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday, Sept. 14. He also led the defense that held the Pioneers to just two shots for the match. Serrano scored a penalty kick in the Friars' 2-1 loss to Rhode Island on Sept. 9. His goal tied the match at 1-1 in the 61st minute. Despite the loss, Providence held the Rams to six shots.
The Friars host Harvard University tonight, Sept. 16. The match is set to kick-off at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
