Men's Soccer Releases Incoming Players For 2019 Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer program and Head Coach Craig Stewart announced the program's incoming players and staff for the 2019 season on August 6. Esben Wolf (Copenhagen, Denmark), Gage Raftery (Seattle, Wash.), Cameron Revels (Clover, S.C.), Lukas Rodwald (Wiesbaden, Germany), Ryan Sledjeski (Bedford, N.H.) and Jaren Suttles (Springfield, Mass.) make up the group of incoming freshman. Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.), Trevor Davock (Medway, Mass.), and Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.) are incoming transfers.

Freshmen

Raftery joins the Friars after graduating from Seattle Academy, where they won a State Championship during his freshman year. The 5-9, 150-pound midfielder played academy soccer for Crossfire under Head Coach Mark Collings.

Revels attended Wakefield High School (Raleigh, N.C.), and played club soccer for North Carolina FC and Charlotte Soccer Academy. The 5-8, 155-pound midfielder started 124 games in four seasons in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy system.

Rodwald, a 5-10, 170-pound midfielder, attended Elly-Heuss-Schule in Germany for eight years. He most recently played for Schott Mainz and Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was a captain on three different teams.

Sledjeski attended Bedford High School, where he recorded 54 goals in his four seasons. The 5-8, 155-pound defender also played with Global Premier Soccer New Hampshire for 10 years and served as team captain for five years. He was named All- State in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and All-New England in 2017 and 2018. He was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Hampshire.

Suttles, a 5-6, 155-pound forward, played academy soccer for the past six years with the Boston Bolts. He graduated from Avon Old Farms School and attended Sabis International Charter School during the four years prior.

Wolf, a 6-1, 180-pound defender, who played this past season for Lyngby Boldklub (Denmark) where they were U-19 cup winners in 2018. He also played for Virum Skole and was selected to train with the Danish U-17 and U-18 national teams.

Transfers

Aviza, a 6-3, 195-pound goalkeeper, is joining the Friars for his senior season after transferring from UConn. He started 14 matches last season for the Huskies and posted a 9-3-2 record and 1.03 goals-against average. He spent his freshman and sophomore years at Syracuse University. He played club soccer for the New England Revolution and was a two-time East Coast Academy All-Star.

Davock, a 5-11, 155-pound forward, attended Boston College for four years and is finishing his last year of eligibility at Providence. He played 57 games at Boston College and made 37 appearances in the starting line-up. He registered 28 points on nine goals and 10 assists. Davock led the Eagles in goals scored as a freshman (five) and sophomore (three).  

Smith, a 6-6, 185-pound junior, attended UMass before transferring to the Friars for the 2019 season. At UMass, he registered 15 goals and 12 assists for 42 points. In 2017, he earned the United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-American honors, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and Atlantic 10 First-Team accolades.
