Julian Gressel Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

Julian Gressel (Neustadt an der Aisch, Germany) was named to the BIG EAST men's soccer weekly honor roll as announced by the league on Sept. 5. The honor is Gressel's second of the season after being named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29, 2016.

The senior midfielder notched the game-winning goal on Sept. 2, in the Friars first win of 2016 season against Holy Cross. The goal marks his third of the season.

On Sept. 4, Gressel aided in the Friars second victory and two-win weekend to even their record to 2-2 when Providence took down Bryant in a 1-0 victory. Gressel assisted on Danny Griffin's (Wethersfield, Conn.) first collegiate goal.

The Friars are back in action at 7:00 on Sept. 9 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium to host the SMU Mustangs in the RI Capital City Classic.
