Men's Soccer To Host Villanova

The Providence College men's soccer team will host the Villanova Wildcats at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m. for a BIG EAST match-up. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports Go.

Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats enter the BIG EAST match-up with a 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 BIG EAST record. Villanova is 1-1 in its previous two matches, defeating DePaul, 4-2 (Oct. 1) and falling at Temple, 1-0 (Oct. 4).

The Wildcats are led by Miguel Polley, who has tallied nine points on two goals and five assists. Two other Wildcats rank second among their teammates with eight points. Lucas Hodge and Zach Zandi have each recorded three goals and two assists in the 2016 campaign.

Will Steiner has been a mainstay in goal for Villanova, recording 1032:19 minutes of play, tallying 50 saves for a 1.22 goals against average and .781 save percentage.

Scouting the Friars
The Friars resume BIG EAST play with a 5-4 overall record and 1-2 mark in the BIG EAST. Providence is riding a two game overtime winning streak after defeating Xavier, 2-1 (Oct. 1) and Brown, 1-0 (Oct. 5).

Senior Captain Julian Gressel (Neustadt an der Aisch, Germany) leads the Friars with 13 points on six goals and one assist. Gressel tallied the lone goal in the Oct. 5 match at Brown in the 93rd minute, to lift the Friars to their fifth win of the season. Seven other Friars have tallied at least one assist on the season, led by Brendan Constantine (Glastonbury, Conn.) with two assists.

Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) has recorded 461:01 minutes in goal for the Friars and has recorded four shutouts in his five games played in 2016, earning a 5-0-0 record. Miller has allowed only one goal against and holds a goals against average of 0.20 and .952 save percentage.
