Men's Soccer Ranked Eighth In The Nation

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the first national poll of the season today (Sept. 1). The NSCAA ranked the Friars eighth after the first weekend of action. Providence is also one of four BIG EAST schools ranked in the top-12.
The Friars ended the weekend undefeated after a 2-1 overtime win over Bryant and a 2-0 shutout of Monmouth. Junior Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) recorded all four of Providence's goals, earning him College Soccer News National Player of the Week and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
In the preseason poll, the NSCAA ranked the Friars seventh. Last season, the association had the Friars ranked in the top-25 five times throughout the season. The NSCAA released a post-season poll with Providence at No. 3.
Up next, the Friars will travel to Holy Cross for a 5:00 p.m. game on Sept. 4.
