Oranjestad, Aruba - Former Providence College men's soccer standout goalkeeper Keasel Broome '14 helped Barbados to a 2-0 victory over Aruba last night (June 10) in the first leg of round two 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
Broome (Claymont, Del.) earned the clean sheet in his first career international cap, turning aside Aruba's lone shot on goal. The second leg of the qualifier will be played on Sunday, June 14 at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, Paradise Park, St. Michael. Broome recently signed his first professional contract with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (April 2).
During Providence's historic 2014 season, Broome played every minute of every game in the Friar net, setting the program's all-time, single-season record for minutes played (2131:16). He co-captained the team to its first ever BIG EAST Championship and first ever NCAA College Cup appearance as well as leading the team to the highest win total in program history (16-5-4). He also was named to the 2014 BIG EAST All-Tournament team.
Broome played in 59 games as a Friar, recording 14 shutouts and a 31-18-8 record.
