Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

FRESNO, Calif. -
The Providence College softball team defeated Montana, 3-0, in the Fresno State Classic today (Friday, March 13) in Fresno, Calif. The game marked the Friars' third game of the tournament and they now have a 4-10 record this season.
Providence first got on the board in the second inning. Freshman Brittney Veler (Santa Rosa, Calif.) doubled to center field, sending senior Kelsi Luttrell (Mission Viejo, Calif.) home to put the Friars up 1-0.
In the fifth inning, the Friars added two more runs. Senior Lauren Paiva (Middletown, R.I.) was the first, followed by junior Kiki Baldassari (Denville, N.J.) who scored an unearned run after senior Kristie Dederick (Camarillo, Calif.) singled to right center.
Montana was never able to get on the board, leaving the Friars with 3-0 shutout win over the Grizzlies.
Sophomore Taylor Huntly (Las Vegas, Nev.) recorded the win for the Friars, pitching all seven innings and registering four strikeouts. For Montana, Kenzie Cole collected the loss, registering four strikeouts and allowing five hits and three runs.
The Friars will be back in action for their final games of the Fresno State Classic tomorrow (Saturday, March 14). First, Providence will take on Pacific for a 12:30 p.m. ET game, followed by a 4:30 p.m. ET game against Cal Poly.
