NEW YORK, N.Y. -

On Tuesday, January 13, Soccer America announced its 2014 Men's College Awards. Among the honorees, Phil Towler (Cumbria, England) and Daniel Neustadter (Mainz, Germany) were recognized for their performances this past season for the Providence College men's soccer team.
Towler and Neustadter helped lead the Friars to an historic season that included the program's first ever appearance in the NCAA College Cup, their first BIG EAST Championship and the most wins in program history (16-5-2).
Soccer America named Towler to its MVP Second Team. A co-captain, Towler registered one goal and two assists for the Friars while being an anchor in the Friar midfield. He also was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team (Nov. 11) and the NSCAA Great Lakes All-Region First Team (Dec. 10). On Friday, December 12, Towler was the first Friar to earn All-America honors since Ryan Maduro '09 in 2006 and the fourth Friar to earn All-America accolades in program history. Over the course of his career, the senior tallied three goals and four assists for 10 points.

Neustadter was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman First Team. The German native registered three goals and two assists for eight points. Two of those goals were game-winning goals, most notably the goal that secured the win against Xavier in the BIG EAST Championship game giving the Friars their first ever BIG EAST Championship Title. Neustadter also was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week (9/15) and named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team (11/11).
