After 110 minutes of play, Providence held the advantage in shots (11-8), shots on goal (6-2) and corner kicks (4-3). With the shutout, Jeff Kilday was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The game also marked Keasel Broome's third shutout on the season.
Providence vs. Connecticut Game Postponed
Providence's last non-conference game of the season at Connecticut on Oct. 1 was postponed due to poor field conditions from steady rain in the area. No make-up date for the game has been announced.
Providence vs. Marquette Game Postponed
Providence's opening BIG EAST conference game against Marquette on Sept. 27 was postponed due to travel issues. The Friars were unable to fly into Milwaukee after thousands of flights were cancelled across the Midwest because of a fire at an FAA facility near Chicago. The game has been rescheduled for an 8:05 p.m. start on Oct. 22.
Jeff Kilday Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Twice
It was announced on Sept. 8 by the BIG EAST Conference that red-shirt junior Jeff Kilday was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Kilday earned the honor after scoring his first collegiate goal, ensuring the Friars 2-0 win against Holy Cross on Sept. 5. Kilday earned the honor again on Oct. 6 after his performance in the 0-0 tie against Xavier on Oct. 4. Kilday was a crucial part of the Friars defense that earned them the shutout.
Broome Posts 10th Career Shutout
After the 0-0 tie against Xavier at home on Oct. 4, Friar goalkeeper Keasel Broome recorded his third shutout of the season. The game also marked his tenth career shutout in a total of 44 games. His first and second shutouts of the season came in a 2-0 season opener win against Bryant on Aug. 29 and a 2-0 win against Holy Cross on Sept. 5.
Overtime With Craig Stewart
Over the last three years, under head coach Craig Stewart, the Friars have headed into overtime a total of 15 times combining for an overtime record of 5-3-7. Two of those overtime games occurred in conference and NCAA Tournament play.
The Friars Dominate The Ocean State
After Providence's win against Brown on Sept. 12, the Friars are now 3-0-0 versus their fellow Div. I in-state rivals. The first win came against Bryant, 2-0, on Aug. 29, followed by Rhode Island (5-1) on Aug. 31 and then a 3-2 OT win against Brown last weekend.
Daniel Neustädter Named BIG EAST Rookie Of The Week
Freshman Daniel Neustädter has been making his presence known on the field for the Friars and was recognized for it on Sept. 15 when he was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. The honor came after he scored the game-winning goal in Providence's 2-1 overtime win against Brown on Sept. 12. The goal marked Neustädter's first collegiate goal.

Three of the four goals came within two minutes of each other (75:11, 76:07 and 77:11), breaking the NCAA Division I men's soccer record for the fastest three consecutive goals by the same player. The record was set on Oct. 20, 1985 by John Stone of SIU Edwardsville after he scored three goals within 2:15 of each other. For his efforts, Naglestad was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 1).
Friars Undefeated In Opening Weekend
In their first weekend of play for the 2014 season, the Friars came away with two wins. Providence first won at Bryant, 2-0, on Aug. 29. They then completed the weekend with a home opening victory against in-state rival Rhode Island, 5-1. Providence's five goals were the most scored under third-year Head Coach Craig Stewart and the win marked the fourth straight by the Friars over the Rams, dating back to 2010.
