PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
On Monday afternoon (Sept. 23), the BIG EAST named Providence College men's soccer junior forward Fabio Machado (Santa Catarina, Brazil) as the conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
Machado spearheaded a 2-0 win at Boston University in the Friars' only game last week (Sept. 20) by scoring both Providence College goals.
Machado, who now has two goals and an assist for five points on the year, and the Friars are undefeated in their first seven games of the season (5-0-2). It is Providence's best start to a season since opening 2005 with a 4-0-5 mark.
Providence will close out the nonconference portion of its regular season schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with a 7:00 p.m. game at Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) foe Virginia. The Friars and Cavaliers will be meeting for just the second time when they kickoff at UVA's Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.
