Spratt Joins Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Providence College men's soccer Head Coach Craig Stewart announced today (Aug. 19) that Karl Spratt has joined the Friars as their Volunteer Goalkeeping Coach.
Spratt, a native of Newcastle, England, replaces Tim Murray '09, who is pursuing a pro career with the Carolina Railhawks of the North American Soccer League (NASL).
"We are delighted to be adding Karl to our staff," Stewart said. "He has a great playing and coaching background and has already established himself as one of the top goalkeeping specialists in the region."
In addition to his work with the Friars, Spratt is also in his fourth season as the New England Revolution's Director of Goalkeeping for the Revolution's Youth Development Program.
Spratt's previous work experience includes coaching stints with a variety of English club academy programs, including Sunderland AFC and Darlington FC. At the college level, he also has spent time as a goalkeeper coach with the College of the Holy Cross and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
A graduate of the University of Sunderland, Spratt holds a bachelor's degree in sport and exercise development along with his FA goalkeeping licenses. He has also earned the NSCAA's National and Advanced National Goalkeeping Diplomas and became a NSCAA national GK staff instructor in 2013.
Spratt spent time as a player with Manchester United's youth academy, while he was also part of an England National Team developmental squad at the Under-18 level. He currently resides in Providence, R.I.
