The Providence College field hockey program released its 2012 schedule on Tuesday, June 12. The slate features eight regular-season home games and nine road contests. The Friars also will host two scrimmages at Lennon Family Field against Quinnipiac (August 19) and Bryant (August 21).

The Friars officially open the 2012 season against regional foe Maine on Tuesday, August 28 in Orono, Maine. Providence returns home to Lennon Family Field to play three-straight games against Boston University (August 31), Kent State (September 3) and Harvard (September 8).

Providence hits the road again on September 11 to face Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. The team opens BIG EAST Conference regular-season play against Georgetown on September 14. The match against the Hoyas will be held at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The three-game road stretch concludes with a non-conference tilt at Towson on September 16.

The Friars host regional foe Boston College at Lennon Field on September 23, before returning to BIG EAST action against Connecticut on September 28. The Friars' match-up with the Huskies will be held in Storrs, Conn.

Providence opens the month of October with back-to-back home games against Dartmouth (October 3) and BIG EAST foe Syracuse (October 6). Four of the Friars final six games to finish the season are on the road, including three straight at Vermont (October 8), BIG EAST opponent Villanova (October 13) and cross-city rival Brown (October 16).

The Friars return home to host BIG EAST foe Rutgers on October 19, followed by a road game at New Hampshire on October 21. Providence closes out the regular-season schedule at home against BIG EAST opponent Louisville on October 27.

The BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship is slated for Friday, November 2 and Sunday, November 4 in Louisville, Ky. The University of Louisville is scheduled to host the championship event at Trager Stadium.
