PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Providence College soccer freshman midfielder Marcos Ugarte (Providence, R.I.) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, September 26. It marks the second time this season that a Friar has been tabbed the league's offensive player of the week, as Wilder Arboleda (Pawtucket, R.I.) earned the honor on September 12.
Ugarte led the Friars to a 2-0 victory over Cincinnati on Saturday, September 24. He scored his first two collegiate goals in a three-minute span in the second half as the Friars claimed their first BIG EAST Conference opener since 2008. Ugarte has played in all eight matches this season, including six starts.
The Friars (6-2), who are ranked No. 29 in this week's College Soccer News national poll, are back in action on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m., when they face No. 17 USF in Tampa, Fla.
