PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's soccer Head Coach Chaka Daley released the 2011 schedule on Tuesday, August 9. The schedule features 17 regular-season matches, including eight home games.
2011 PROVIDENCE COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE
The Friars will begin the season on Friday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m. with a home match against Northeastern. Providence will then finish off the month of August (29th) with a road contest at Quinnipiac. On Friday, September 2 at noon, Providence will host Brown in the semifinals of the Ocean State Soccer Classic which the Friars captured last season. The championship and consolation matches will be played on Monday, September 5 at the University of Rhode Island.
The Friars will play consecutive home matches (Sacred Heart on September 10 at 1:00 p.m. and Holy Cross on September 14 at 3:00 p.m.) before traveling to Omaha, Neb. to take on national power, Creighton. Providence will then open its BIG EAST Conference schedule at home on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. against Cincinnati in a rematch of last season's BIG EAST Tournament semifinals.
The month of October features nine matches including eight BIG EAST games. Providence will play at West Virginia on Friday, October 21 in a game that will be broadcast live on FOX Soccer Channel. Providence will then finish its regular-season home schedule on Wednesday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. against Notre Dame. The regular-season finale will be played at Georgetown on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m.
