Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Providence College softball team (8-14) drops its final game in the Coastal Carolina Tournament on Sunday, March 20, to Georgia Tech, 6-4.
Georgia Teach jumped out to a 2-0 lead in second inning and added two more in the third. In the sixth inning, Jessica Sinclair homered to right field to extend the lead to 6-0.
In the seventh inning, Providence made a late push with freshman Mackenzie Morgan (Sulphur Springs, Texas) leading of the inning with a solo home run, to score the Friars first run of the game. The next two batters were senior Ava Pandiani (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman Corinne Rubright (Cuyoga Falls, Ohio) who each notched a single. With two outs, junior Michelle Huber (Dana Point, Calif.) stepped up to the plate and belted a three run homer over the right field wall. However, the Providence comeback fell short and Georgia Tech went on to win the game, 6-4.
The Friars are back in action on Wednesday, March 23, when they host Bryant University at 4:00 p.m. at Raymond Field on the Providence College campus.
