The Providence College field hockey program will be highlighting each of its current student-athletes in this new segment entitled "Meet The Friars". Each student athlete will answer a series of questions for their segment, allowing followers of the program to gain a closer perspective of the program and the student-athletes whom comprise the roster.
For our sixth installment of Meet The Friars, we asked forward Nicole Fernandez a handful of questions. Nicole finished the season with nine points on three goals and three assist. She earned NFHCA All-Northeast Region Second-Team honors with the Friars at the conclusion of the season.
Now let's meet Nicole Fernandez!
1. Why did you decide to attend Providence College?
I decided to come to PC because it provided opportunity and a chance to excel. I felt comfortable with the size of the school and, most importantly, I was excited with the idea of being educated at a liberal arts school. Providence College instilled a sense of community and family, which I felt were great aspects to an enjoyable college experience.
2. What is your favorite quote? Why?
"Never, never, never quit." - Winston Churchill. This quote was given to me by my dad when I was younger. My dad had a bookmark with this quote on it and gave it to me, hoping that I would look to it for inspiration when times were difficult. Ever since that day I have lived my life through this quote.
3. If there was only one book you could read for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why?
A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. I am a nerd and I love learning about the universe. I would willingly read this book for the rest of my life and still only have a glimpse at how the universe functions.
4. What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Star gazing (with a telescope) and singing R&B music in the shower.
