Last weekend, the Providence College men's soccer program celebrated its Fall Homecoming Weekend with the Grand Opening of its new locker room and its inaugural golf outing.
The renovation of the team's locker room was made possible by a generous gift from Karl and Kerry Anderson. Karl and Kerry are both Providence College alumni from the class of 1988 and Karl is a former men's soccer standout, recording 22 goals and eight assists during three seasons as a Friar. During halftime of the men's soccer game against Louisville on Saturday, September 25, Karl and Kerry were honored at midfield and following the game more than 100 alumni, parents and friends had the opportunity to tour the new facility. Afterwards, alumni and friends joined Athletic Director Bob Driscoll, Head Coach Chaka Daley and the entire men's soccer team for a reception to thank Karl and Kerry for their generous support.
On Sunday, September 26, the men's soccer team held its Inaugural Golf Outing at Cranston Country Club. The event was a tremendous success as more than 90 alumni, parents and friends participated and more than $11,000 was raised for the men's soccer program. In addition to receiving player gifts at the tournament, every alumni received a poster sized image from their playing days as a Friar.
