The Providence College men's soccer team will host Boston University on Wednesday, October 6 at Glay Field in a non-conference match.

Providence (5-3-1, 0-2 BIG EAST) will look to bounce back after a 2-1 loss at Notre Dame on Sunday, October 3. The Friars controlled the time of possession and held the edge in shots (13-10) as well as corner kicks (10-5), but the Fighting Irish scored in the 85th minute to break the 1-1 deadlock. Prior to that loss, the Friars defeated Harvard, 2-1, on Wednesday, September 29 as sophomore Keith Jecewiz (Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded his first-career goal and added one assist, while senior Matt Marcin (Wilmington, Del.) scored what proved to be the match winner with two seconds remaining in the first half.

Marcin and sophomore Wilder Arboleda (Pawtucket, R.I.) lead the team in scoring each with three goals and one assist for seven points, while sophomore Marc Cintron (Piscataway, N.J.) is third with one goal and three assists for five points. In goal, red-shirt junior Jhojan Obando (Kissimmee, Fla.) has started all nine games and has three shutouts.

Boston University (6-3-1, 1-0 America East) comes into Wednesday's match looking to extend its winning streak to four matches. Most recently, the Terriers defeated Stony Brook, 2-1, in the America East Conference opener on Saturday, October 2 in Stony Brook, N.Y. Aaron O'Neal and Ben Berube each scored, while Brandon Briggs made five saves to lead the way. O'Neal (five goals, one assist) and Berube (four goals, three assists) are tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points each. Briggs, who was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday, has played in every game and has three shutouts.

Providence is 3-10-2 all-time against Boston University. Last season, the Terriers defeated the Friars, 3-0, in Boston as O'Neal scored twice. Prior to last season, the two teams had not faced each other since 1989. Providence is seeking its first win over BU since 1987.
