FRESNO, Calif. - The Providence College softball team fell to Fresno State, 1-0, in the second game of the Bayer CropScience Classic Friday night in Fresno, Calif.

The Bulldogs (9-7) scored the only run of the game when Haley Gilleland singled to right field in the eighth inning to drive in Jody Badorine.

For the Friars (2-8), junior Danielle Bertolette (Temecula, Calif.) pitched seven innings, allowed one run (not earned) on four hits and struck out four batters. Fresno State's Morgan Melloh earned the win as she pitched eight innings, allowed just one hit and struck out 14 batters.

The Friars will resume play in the Bayer CropScience Classic on Saturday, March 7 when they face California and Fresno State.
