PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's soccer senior Joseph Weill (Merrick, N.Y.) recently received two awards for his academic and athletic excellence. On April 19, Weill received the Joseph V. MacAndrew Award, given annually to a male senior varsity athlete who has achieved an outstanding level of performance in academics and athletics during his undergraduate career at PC. On April 30, Weill also was awarded a $2000 Aeropostale post graduate scholarship.

Weill, who served as a tri-captain this past season, helped the soccer team to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths (2005, 2006) for the first time in the program's 39-year history. He started 19 matches in 2006 and scored a career-high two goals, each coming in BIG EAST contests. Last season, he started all 20 games for Providence and notched his first collegiate goal versus Cincinnati on November 2, 2005. Weill, a Political Science major, started 12 matches in 2004 and all 19 games as a freshman in the 2003. He missed only one game in his career at PC.
