PROVIDENCE COLLEGE FRIARS (0-3): The Providence College men's lacrosse team opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play against Canisius on Saturday, March 17 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. Face-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Friars enter Saturday's game with an 0-3 record. Junior Devin McBride (Marblehead, Mass.) leads the offense with six points on six goals. McBride is in the midst of a seven-game scoring streak in which he has at least one goal or one assist, dating back to the end of the 2006 season. Graduate student Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) and senior Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) each have three points on the season. Farley has two goals and one assist, while Ryan has one goal and two assists. In goal, senior Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) has played 138:59 minutes and owns a 7.77 goals against average and a 0.581 save percentage. He has allowed 18 goals and has registered 25 saves. At the "X", senior Thomas Wenskus (East Islip, N.Y.) has taken the majority of PC's face-offs. He has won 12 of 28 opportunities for a 0.429 face-off percentage. Freshman Jackson Fallon (Arlington, Mass.) has taken nine face offs and has won seven for a 0.778 face-off percentage. Senior Pat James (Lansdale, Pa.) leads the Friars with 10 groundballs.
Providence and Canisius have met 12 times in the history of the two lacrosse programs. The all-time series is tied, 6-6. The Golden Griffs won the most recent meeting between the two teams on April 1, 2006 in Buffalo, N.Y. Canisius earned a 12-11 victory on that day.
CANISIUS GOLDEN GRIFFINS (0-3): Canisius enters Saturday's game against the Friars with an 0-3 record. Kevin Ross leads the Golden Griffin's offense with 11 points on six goals and five assists. Tom Hensel checks in with six points on six goals, followed by three goals (three points) from Michael Blocho. Angus Dineley has played 130:38 minutes in goal for Canisius and owns a 16.08 goals against average and a 0.417 save percentage. He has allowed 35 goals and has recorded 25 saves.
