PC was defeated in its first game, 1-0, by Bradley on September 3 and lost its second game of the tournament to Drake, 3-0, on September 4 ... Providence entered the season looking to earn its third consecutive berth to the BIG EAST Tournament. Last season, the Friars advanced to BIG EAST Semfinals where they were defeated by eventual BIG EAST Champs Notre Dame, 1-0 ... Providence should be led on offense this season by junior Eoin Lynch (Yarmouth, Maine) ... Lynch has led Friars in goals each of the last two seasons. Last year, Lynch recorded a career best 17 points on eight goals and one assist ... Senior Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Konopka (Toms River, N.J.) each have played one game in goal this season.
