Boston College Eagles (4-3, 0-0 BIG EAST): The Eagles enter Wednesday's BIG EAST Conference tilt with a 4-3 overall record. Boston College is led offensively by Kim French and Sarah York, who each have 12 points on six goals. Sabrina Lazzari is second in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Lauren Hill and Jillian Savoy have split time in the cage for BC. Savoy holds a record of 2-1 on the season with a 0.722 save percentage and a 1.22 goals against average. Hill, 2-2 on the season, has a 0.500 save percentage and a 1.78 goals against average. The Friars have won each of the last three meetings with Providence, including a 5-1 victory over the Friars last season in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Providence College (5-2, 0-0 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey team (5-2) hosts Boston College in BIG EAST Conference action on Wednesday, September 24 at Hendricken Field in Providence, R.I. The game marks the beginning of BIG EAST Conference play for both schools and is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Friars enter the contest with a 5-2 overall record, while the Eagles stand at 4-3 on the season. Last season, Boston College defeated the Friars, 5-1, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Eagles have won each of the last three meetings against the Friars. The last time Providence defeated BC was during the 1999 season (1-0) in Providence, R.I. The all-time series between the two schools dates back to 1976 and Providence holds the advantage through 32 games with a 16-15-1 all-time series record against the Eagles.

Through seven games on the 2003 schedule, Providence is led offensively by sophomore Katharine Lary (Canaan, N.H.). Lary has recorded 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. Lary has earned BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this season (September 1, September 15), and was named ECAC Player of the Week once (September 16). Senior Stefanie Suehnholz (Flemington, N.J.) and freshman Melissa McGow (Branford, Conn.) each have 10 points on the year. Suehnholz is second in goals scored on the team with five, while McGow has four goals and two assists to her credit. Junior Amy Phillips (Worcester, Mass.) owns eight points on four goals for the Friars. In goal, senior Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) has amassed 59 saves and has allowed 16 goals for a 0.787 save percentage and a 2.42 goals against average.

In 2003, Providence has earned three of its five victories in overtime. The Friars have posted an overall record of 5-2 this season, including a 3-0 mark in overtime games. During the 2002 season, the Friars posted an 0-5 mark in overtime games, including three losses in penalty strokes.
