PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Junior Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) pitched a two-hit shutout as the Providence College softball team posted a 2-0 victory in the second game of a BIG EAST double header split versus Pittsburgh on Saturday, May 3 at Trees Field. The Friars were defeated, 1-0, in eight innings in game one.
In the second game, Van Dusen allowed just two hits, no walks, and struck one batter to earn her eighth win of the season. In the third inning, freshman Elena Romero (Chula Vista, Calif.) singled to drive in junior Chrissy Iannolo (Syracuse, N.Y.) for the only run the Friars would need. Freshman Michelle Willette (Moorpark, Calif.) hit her third home run of the season in the fourth inning to account for PC's second run. Freshman Michele Bowers (Staten Island, N.Y.) batted two for two for the Friars. Pittsburgh's Janelle Pepe (Connellsville, Pa.) pitched seven innings, allowed five hits, one walk and struckout two.
