University of Rhode Island Rams (2-3-0) - The Rams come to Glay Field with a two-game winning streak. After starting its season with three consecutive losses, Rhode Island has won its last two games. In its most recent game, Rhode Island posted a 5-1 victory on September 15 against Harvard. Scoring a goal and adding an assist was team-leader, senior midfielder Peter Benevides (Bristol, R.I.). Benevides has posted team-highs in goals (three) and points (seven). The Rams, who are led by Head Coach Ed Bradley, currently average 11.6 shots per game and have scored 1.89 goals per game. In goal, junior Michael Charles (Glendora, Calif.) has played all but 27 minutes this season. He has saved 20 out of 33 shots which equates to a .606 save percentage. The Rams look to continue their winning streak against the Friars. Rhode Island has won two in a row against PC, dating back to 1999 and holds an overall record of 23-6-4 versus the Friars.
Providence College Friars (1-3-0) - The Friars will host Rhode Island at Glay Field for the first time in four years. The Friars are led this season by senior midfielder Maruicio Solano (Coral Springs, Fla.). Solano has a team-high two goals and five points. In his last game against Georgetown on September 14, Solano scored PC's only goal on a penalty kick. In goal, senior Michael Greulich (Cincinnati, Ohio) has made 23 saves and played in all 360 minutes this season. His 5.75 saves per game average ranks first among BIG EAST goalies. PC Head Coach Chaka Daley is in his third year with the Friars. Providence looks to extend their home winning streak against the Rams to three games.
