Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

KINGSTON, R.I. -- The Providence College softball team was swept in a doubleheader at the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday, April 18th in a make-up doubleheader from Thursday, April 12th rain out. The Rams won, 2-1 in game one and 1-0 in eight innings in game two.
The Friars (18-20 overall) were limited to just two hits in the first game and scored their lone run of the afternoon in the first inning when the Rams (18-21) committed two errors. The Rams scored two runs off PC starter Melissa Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.), one in the third inning and the second in the fifth.
In the second game the two teams played a scoreless game until the eighth inning when Kristin Havdoglaus led off with a single and advanced to second on an infield error. She was sacrificed to third base and scored on an RBI single by Shauna Newmiller.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, April 21st when they host Syracuse University in a BIG EAST Conference contest at 12 noon at PC's Raymond Field.
