Cancelled Event: Softball versus Tarleton State

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. -- The Providence College softball team was defeated at Boston College, 1-0 and 3-1, on Saturday, April 14th in a BIG EAST Conference doubleheader.
The Friars (17-17 overall/2-8 BIG EAST) mustered just two hits off the Eagles' (22-17 overall/5-7 BIG EAST) starting pitcher, Tekae Malandris. Malandris pitched a complete-game and struck out five Providence batters in the 1-0 game-one victory.
The Friars scored first in the second game, as sophomore firstbaseman Amber Carr (Ventura, Calif.) doubled home pinch runner Marisa Hernandez (Austin, Texas) in the fourth inning.
The Eagles scored the tying run in the fifth inning and added two runs in the six inning off of Providence starter Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.), who allowed just three hits but walked five batters.
BC's Malandris pitched the final two innings for the Eagles and picked up her second win of the afternoon.
The Friars return to action on Tuesday, April 17th when they host Quinnipiac University at 3:00 p.m. at PC's Raymond Field.
