Softball Wins For Fourth Time in Five Games

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Providence College softball team won for the fourth time in five games on Thursday, defeating North Carolina A & T State University, 5-2, in Orlando, Fla.

Providence sophomore Amber Carr (Ventura, Calif.) was two-for-three at the plate for the Friars and senior hurler Robyn West (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) pitched six strong innings with just one earned run allowed and two strikeouts for her third win in three games on the year. Freshman Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) pitched the seventh inning in her second appearance of the year and picked up her first career save with a scoreless inning.

The Friars (4-1) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning after the Aggies scored in the top of the first. PC added two runs in the fifth inning and the fifth and final run in the sixth inning.

PC returns to action on Friday, March 9th when they face Detroit at 3:00 p.m. and St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m. as the 2001 Rebel Games continues from Osceola, Fla.
