PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College defeated Harvard University, 2-1, in men's soccer action at Providence, R.I. on Wednesday, September 23. PC sophomore midfielder Kevin Jones (Westford, Mass.) led the Friar offense with two goals.
Harvard forward Jonathan Oslowski (Salt Lake City, Utah) tallied the first goal of the game when he redirected a low shot past Friar goalkeeper Dan Pires (Ludlow, Mass.) at the 33:27 mark. Jones evened the game for the Friars at 1-1 as he converted on a breakaway at 39:20. Jones scored his second goal and what proved to be the game winner at the 70:38 mark with a hard shot from 15 feet in front of the net.
Pires recorded six saves in the win. Harvard goalkeeper Jordan Dupuis (Christchurch, New Zealand) made four stops for the Crimson.
Providence improved its overall record to 2-5, while Harvard dropped to 0-3-1 overall.
Providence College returns to action on Sunday, September 27 against Pittsburgh at 1:00 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
