DURHAM, N.H. - The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated by the University of Vermont, 1-0, in the Nike/Pepsi Soccer Classic at Durham, N.H. on Saturday, September 5.

Vermont midfielder Jason Allen tallied the only goal of the game when he took a pass from forward Armann Fenger and blasted a shot from straight on that beat Friar goalkeeper Dan Pires high to the left.

Catamount goalkeeper Chris Rose registered two saves on 10 shots. Pires recorded eight saves on 14 shots in the loss.

Vermont improved its overall record to 1-0, while Providence dropped to 0-2 overall.

Providence College returns to action on Sunday, September 6 against the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. in the final game of the Nike/Pepsi Soccer Classic.
