As a Freshman: Placed fourth in the 100 butterfly (54.13) and second in the 200 butterfly (2:00.06) at the New England Catholic Invite…Placed second in the 200 scm butterfly (2:14.50) against Iona…at the Harold Anderson Invitational, Melendez plaed 12th in the 50 freestyle (22.34), fourth in the 100 butterfly (52.93), and third in the 100 freestyle (48.17)…placed first in the 200 butterfly (1:58.73) and second in the 100 butterfly (54.18) against Holy Cross…Placed first in the 200 scm freestyle (1:57.09), the 100 scm freestyle (53.48), and the 100 scm butterfly (59.04) against Maine…Melendez qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in Geneva, Ohio where he competed in the 50 freestyle, placed 11th in the 200 freestyle (1:41.39), and placed 13th in the 200 butterfly (1:52.49). He was also a member of the fifth place 800 and 200 freestyle relays.
Before Providence: Earned three varsity letters for the three years he swam at Canton High…. Captain his senior year… All-Scholastic athlete 2014-2017… Hockomock league all-star from 2014 to 2017… Undefeated Davenport League Champions 2017… Junior Statesmen of America participant… Earned All-Scholastic Honors in Highschool
