As a Senior: Placed eighth in the 400 yard IM (4:28.22) and 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.11) at the BC Catholic Invite…Placed first in the 200 scm IM (2:19.07) and third in the 100 scm butterfly (1:02.15) against Fairfield…At the Harold Anderson Invitational, McGowan placed 10th in the 200 IM (2:02.87), third in the 400 IM (4:20.95), and eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.29)…Placed second in the 200 butterfly against Holy Cross (2:04.82)…McGowan qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in Geneva, OHIO in the 200 IM, 100 breaststroke, and 200 breaststroke.

As a Junior: Placed third in the 200 scm butterfly (2:23.55) against Bryant…Placed fourth in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:26.56) and fifth in the 500 yard freestyle (5:04.31) against Seton Hall… At the Harold Anderson Invitational, McGowan placed seventh in the 500 yard freestyle (4:58.55), first in the 400 yard IM (4:16.63), and seventh in the 200 yard butterfly (2:02.01)…Placed third in the 200 scm butterfly (2:21.70) against Villanova…Placed second in the 800 scm freestyle (9:18.70) and third in the 200 scm breastroke (2:35.76) against Holy Cross... McGowan qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and the 200 breastroke. He placed 26 in the 200 IM (1:58.67), 17 in the 400 IM (4:13.30), and 13in the 200 breastroke (2:10.76).

Before Providence: Earned four varsity letters in swimming at Mansfield High School ... Captained the team his senior year ... Member of the Hockomock Area YMCA club team ... Earned Most Valuable Player award his senior year ... Earned most improved award freshman year for Mansfield High School and junior year for YMCA club team ... Broke six high school records and four club records ... Helped YMCA club team become league All-Stars.
