The Friars will head to the BIG EAST Tournament in Rosemont, Ill. as the No. 1 seed after clinching a share of the regular-season title.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The Providence College softball team (29-18, 18-6 BIG EAST) lost to the Butler Bulldogs (24-19, 15-9 BIG EAST), 4-1, on May 3 in Indianapolis, Ind. Providence concluded the season with a share of the BIG EAST Regular-Season Title with UConn and will be the No.1 seed in the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament. The Friars will face No. 4-seed Butler in the first round of the tournament on Thursday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. The tournament will be played May 7-9 at the Parkway Bank Softball Complex in Rosemont, Ill.

• The Friars got on the board in the fourth inning when Dominique Gallardo (Lexington, S.C.) singled to left-center field, driving in Julia Renny to get Providence on the board to tie the game, 1-1. Â
• Butler went on to score three more runs to secure the 4-1 victory. Â
• In the circle, Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) got the start, pitching three innings. Grace Brooks (Meridian, Idaho) and Alannah Hopkins (Sylva, N.C.) came in relief. Â
