COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Providence College softball team concluded its second day at the Gamecock Invitational gainst the host team, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 8, in Columbia, S.C. The Friars fell, 8-0, in five innings, to the Gamecocks and moved to 0-3 on the season. Junior Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) finished the day with a team-best two hits on the day. She was one of the four Friars to record a hit at the plate.
GAME NOTES:
· The Gamecocks took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added three more runs in the second.
· Smith recorded a team-best two singles at the plate for the Friars.
· Tori Grifone (Sussex N.J.), Riley Quirk (Holden, Mass.), Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) and Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) each made an appearance in the circle for PC. The four pitchers conceded eight hits and eight runs.

The Friars will close out Gamecock Invitational play tomorrow, February 9, in a rematch against Toledo at 10:00 a.m. in Columbia, S.C.
