NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated Merrimack College, 3-2, on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Lawler Rink in North Andover, Mass. With the win, the Friars improved to 7-10-2 overall and 4-4-2 in Hockey East play, while the Warriors dropped to 3-14-1 and 0-10-0. Sophomore
Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) scored two goals for Providence, marking the first multi-goal game of her career.

-The Friars opened the scoring at 8:05 of the first period on a one-timer from sophomore
Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario). Freshman
Molly Farace (Otonabee, Ontario) and junior
Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) recorded the assists. The goal marked Pellerin's fifth of the season and was the third assist of the season for both Kraft and Farace.
-Providence successfully killed one Merrimack power play in the first period.
-Shots on goal after the first 20 minutes were 20-6 in favor of the Friars.
-Merrimack tied the game on the power play at 12:32 of the second period on a goal from Avery Anderson. Hailey Eikos and Lauren Lyons earned the assists.
-The teams headed to the third period tied at one. The Friars extended their lead in shots on goal to 36-12 after the second period.
-The Friars regained the lead on the power play at 5:43 of the third period on Pellerin's second goal of the night. Senior
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and senior
Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) assisted on the play. It marked Pellerin's first multi-goal game of her career. It was her sixth career multi-point game and third of the season. Kirchmair extended her point streak to four games with the assist.
-Providence extended its lead to 3-1 just 12 seconds later on a goal from sophomore
Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austria), her second of the season. Sophomore
Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) and freshman
Taylor Leemrijse (Toronto, Ontario) registered assists. The assist capped a two-point weekend for Leemrijse.
-With 1:09 remaining in regulation, the Warriors cut the lead to 3-2 on a goal from Stina Sandberg. Emma Pfeffer and Maggie Kime were credited with assists.
-Providence successfully held off Merrimack's six-on-five push to secure the win.

Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) made 20 saves for the Friars.

Matt Kelly earned his 100th Hockey East victory, becoming one of only two coaches in program history to reach the mark.
-Providence is now 28-3-2 all-time against Merrimack, and Kelly improved to 21-2-1 against the Warriors.
-The Friars are now 3-7-0 on the road this season.
-It marked the first three-game win streak for Providence since February 2025.
-Providence is now 6-0-0 in both one-goal games and when scoring three or more goals.
-The Friars improved to 4-1-1 when winning the faceoff battle.
