CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated Boston College in overtime, 2-1, on Friday, Feb. 13, at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Friars improved to 10-19-2 overall and 7-12-2 in Hockey East play, while the Eagles fell to 13-17-1 overall and 11-9-1 in conference action. Senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) netted the game-winning goal in overtime to secure the victory.

1st Period
-Boston College opened the scoring 2:55 into the first period with a power-play goal from Maxim Tremblay. Lauren Glaser recorded the lone assist.
-Providence responded on the power play at 4:17 of the period, as freshman Sami Snyder (Waterloo, Ontario) found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Sophomore Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) and sophomore Emma Hofbauer (Vomperbach, Austria) were credited with the assists. The goal marked Snyder's fourth of the season.
-Boston College outshot Providence 12-7 in the first period.
2nd Period
-Both teams skated to a scoreless second period.
-The Eagles had one power-play opportunity in the period, which the Friars successfully killed.
-Through 40 minutes, the Eagles held a 28-18 advantage in shots on goal.
3rd Period
-Neither team was able to find the game-winner in the final frame.
-Providence was unsuccessful on its lone power-play opportunity of the period.
Overtime
-Providence was awarded a power play with 1:38 remaining in overtime. On the ensuing advantage, senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) scored the game-winner with 1:13 left in the extra period. Junior Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) and senior Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) were credited with the assists. The goal marked Kirchmair's 13th career game-winning goal.
-Cavaliere extended her point streak to five games with the assist, marking the longest streak by a Friar this season. The senior reached the 20-point mark with the assist, becoming the third Friar this season to record 20 or more points.
Notes
-Graduate student goaltender Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 35 saves, her 14th game this season with 30 or more saves.
-The Friars improved to 61-50-4 all-time against Boston College. The Friars finished the regular season 1-2-0 against the Eagles and it's the first victory at Boston College since Jan. 27, 2024.
-Providence moved to 5-1-2 in overtime games this season.
-It marked just the second time this season the Friars have won when scoring two goals or fewer. The other came in a 2-1 victory over Clarkson on Oct. 17.
-Kirchmair now has 98 career points, two shy of 100. She is looking to become the 29th player in program history to record 100 or more career points.
-The Friars improved to 6-4-1 when scoring a power-play goal. Friday marked the first time this season Providence scored multiple power-play goals in a game.
-Providence is now 4-3-1 when tied after 40 minutes.
