Women's Hockey Shuts Out Sacred Heart In Home Opener, 3-0

Freshman goalkeeper Mallory Hartl notched her first career shutout in the Friars weekend sweep.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated Sacred Heart, 3-0, on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. in the 2026-27 home opener. The Friars improved to 2-0-0, while Sacred Heart falls to 0-2-0. Freshmen Elizabeth Janovski (Stouffville, Ontario), Grace Van Volsen (Whitby, Ontario) and senior Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) each scored for the Friars while freshman goalkeeper Mallory Hartl (Askow, Minn.) recorded her first career shutout.

3rd Period
-Providence opened the scoring at 6:24 as Janovski scored her second goal of the season. It was assisted by sophomore Bella Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and senior Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.).
-Providence doubled the lead with a goal at 8:30 as Van Volsen scored her third goal in two games to put the Friars up 2-0. Her goal was assisted by Knapp and freshman Reese Kletke (Oakville, Ontario). It was Kletke's first career point.
-Knapp scored for the Friars at 15:47 to extend the lead to 3-0. The goal was assisted by juniors Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) and Emma Hofbauer (Vomberbach, Austria).
NOTES

-Harti recorded 24 saves with 0 goals allowed.
