Women’s Hockey Falls To No. 5/5 Northeastern In Regular-Season Finale, 4-2

Reichen Kirchmair recorded her 100th career point.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team fell to No. 5/5 Northeastern, 4-2, on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Schneider Arena. The Friars closed the regular season at 11-21-2 overall and 8-14-2 in Hockey East play, while the Huskies finished 26-7-1 overall and 21-2-1 in conference action. Senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) recorded her 100th career point with a first-period goal, becoming the 29th player in program history to reach the milestone.

GAME FLOW
  
1st Period
-The Friars opened the scoring just 26 seconds into the game as Kirchmair found the back of the net off assists from seniors Mégane Quirion (Saint-Eustache, Quebec) and Sarah Davies (Mississauga, Ontario). The goal marked Kirchmair's 14th of the season and 55th of her career.
 
-Providence doubled its lead 37 seconds later when freshman Molly Farace (Otonabee, Ontario) scored her second goal of the season. Sophomores Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) and Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) earned the assists. The helper marked Pellerin's first career season reaching double-digit assists.
 
-Northeastern held a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal after the opening 20 minutes.
 
-Providence went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Northeastern was 0-for-1.
 
2nd Period
-The Huskies cut the deficit to 2-1 at 10:13 as Stryker Zablocki scored, assisted by Allie Lalonde and Rylie Jones.
 
-Northeastern had one power-play opportunity in the period, which the Friars successfully killed.
 
-Shots on goal through two periods favored Northeastern, 20-16.
 
 
3rd Period
-Northeastern tied the game at 9:08 of the third period on a goal by Lalonde, assisted by Zablocki and Kristina Allard.
 
-The Huskies took the lead 36 seconds later as Lily Shannon scored off assists from Emy McDermid and Jones.
 
-Northeastern sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:39 from Zablocki. Morgan Jackson and Allard recorded the assists.
 
NOTES
 
-Graduate student goaltender Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) made 30 saves.
