PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team were defeated by No. 6/7 UConn, 4-1, on Friday, Jan. 2 at Schneider Arena. The Friars fell to 7-11-2 overall and 4-5-2 in Hockey East play, while the Huskies improved to 14-3-2 and 7-1-1. Junior

-The Huskies opened the scoring at 7:26 of the first period when Brooke Campbell forced a turnover and scored an unassisted goal.
-Providence tied the game with 1:41 remaining in the opening frame on a deflection in front from junior
Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.). Freshman
Bella Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and sophomore
Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) earned the assists for the Friars. The goal marked Kraft's third of the season.
-Shots on goal after the opening 20 minutes were 14-9 in favor of the Huskies.
-After the Huskies were awarded the first power play of the game, Julia Pellerin regained the lead for UConn at 15:27 of the second period. Maya Serdachny and Kyla Josifovic assisted on the goal.
-UConn extended its lead to 3-1 at 6:50 of the third period on an unassisted goal from Sadie Hotles.
-The Huskies sealed the game with an empty-net goal from Claire Murdoch at 17:22 of the third period. Pellerin recorded the lone assist.
-Graduate student goaltender
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) made 29 saves for the Friars.
-The Friars fell to 42-28-12 in the all-time series against UConn.
-Providence is now 3-6-0 against ranked opponents this season.
