ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated No. 13/13 University of St. Thomas, 7-6, in overtime on Friday, Oct. 24, at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul, Minn. The Friars improved to 2-5-0 on the season, while St. Thomas dropped to 6-3-0. Senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) scored four goals, including the game winner.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
  
-The Friars scored 23 seconds into the game on a goal from junior Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.). Sophomore Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) and senior Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) assisted on the play. The goal marked Knapp's first of the season.
 
-The Tommies responded three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 on a goal from Teagan Kulenkamp. Haley Maxwell earned the assist.
 
-Three minutes later, St. Thomas grabbed a 2-1 lead on the power play from Ilsa Lindaman. Ella Boerger picked up the lone assist.
 
-After serving a two-minute minor, senior Sarah Davies (Mississauga, Ontario) jumped out of the box and scored on a breakaway to tie the game at 2-2 at 14:35 of the first period. Junior Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) fed Davies for the goal.
 
-At 14:07 of the second period, senior Reichen Kirchmair (Oakaville, Ontario) gave the Friars 3-2 lead. Knapp and freshman Bella Paolucci (Groose Pointe Woods, Mich.) earned the assists.
 
-Less than two minutes later on the power play, Kirchmair scored her second goal of the game at 16:00 of the second period. Pellerin and Knapp each recorded their second assist of the game.
 
-Kirchmair completed a hat-trick in four minutes and 41 seconds with her third goal at 18:48 of the second period. Knapp picked up her fourth point of the game and third assist, while junior Peyton Blaney (Millgrove, Ontario) added the secondary assist. The hat trick is Kirchmair's second of her collegiate career and the first by a Friar since Knapp's on Jan. 31, 2025.
 
-Kirchmair and Knapp recorded their seventh and third career three-point game, respectively. It also marked Kirchmair's 22nd career multi-point game and Knapp's 12th.   
 
-St. Thomas scored its second power-play goal of the game at 7:44 of the third period to cut the Friar lead to 5-3. Rylee Bartz scored, with assists fromNora Sauer and Kulenkamp.
 
-Four and a half minutes later, Whitney Horton scored to make it 5-4. Bartz recorded the assist.  
 
-The Tommies tied the game, 5-5, at 16:31 of the third period when Boerger scored with an assist from Maddie Brown.
 
-St. Thomas took a 6-5 lead with 1:17 remaining on the power-play from Lindaman. Brown earned the assist.
 
-With an extra attacker on the ice, Pellerin tied the game, 6-6, on a deflection with 31 seconds remaining. Cavaliere and sophomore Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) earned assists.
 
-Kirchmair won the game for the Friars in overtime for her fourth goal of the afternoon unassisted.
 
-Kirchmair's four-goal performance was the first by a Friar since Sara Hjalmarsson on Nov. 19, 2022.
 
-Graduate student goaltender Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 38 saves in the win.
 
-The Friars improved to 2-4-0 against ranked opponents this season.
