Women’s Hockey Falls To No. 13/13 St. Thomas On The Road, 5-1

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Providence College women's hockey team was defeated by No. 13/13 University of St. Thomas, 5-1, on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul, Minn. The Friars fell to 2-6-0 on the season, while St. Thomas improved to 7-3-0. Freshman Bella Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) scored her first collegiate goal for the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
 
-The two teams skated to a scoreless first period. Shots on goal were 7-5 in favor of the Tommies.
 
-St. Thomas opened the scoring at 10:42 of the second period on an unassisted goal from Whitney Horton.
 
-The Tommies extended their lead to 2-0 less than three minutes later on the power play. Chloe Boreen scored, assisted by Rylee Bartz and JuliAnna Gazdik.
 
-In the third period, freshman Bella Paolucci (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) scored her first collegiate goal on a shot from center ice to cut the lead to 2-1 at 9:55. Sophomore Josie Lang (Stillwater, Minn.) and senior Sarah Davies (Mississauga, Ontario) were credited with assists. All three players recorded their second point of the weekend on the goal.
 
-St. Thomas regained a two-goal lead at 12:36 of the third period on an unassisted goal from Bartz.
 
-After an initial no-goal call, a review confirmed a St. Thomas goal at 16:38 of the third period by Ella Boerger, assisted by Boreen and Haley Maxwell, to make it 4-1.
 
-With less than three minutes remaining, Nora Sauer added an empty-net goal to seal the 5-1 win. Ilsa Lindaman earned the assist.
 
-Graduate student goaltender Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 32 saves.
 
-The Friars fell to 2-5-0 against ranked opponents this season.
