Harrington was named Player of the Week, while Twomey claimed Freshman of the Week accolades.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today (April 15) that softball's Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) and Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) earned BIG EAST Weekly honors following their stellar performances over this past week. Harrington was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while Twomey claimed Freshman of the Week accolades. The duo helped the Providence College softball team compile a 3-1 record last week, including a three-game sweep of BIG EAST foe DePaul.
Harrington, a senior and co-caption for the Friars, finished the week with a .583 batting average, 1.000 slugging percentage and a .643 on-base percentage over four games. Harrington went 5-for-9 at bat and contributed six RBI and six runs in the Friars' three-game sweep over DePaul last week. Harrington earned her first BIG EAST weekly honor of the season and sixth of her career.
Twomey was a key player this past weekend against DePaul both offensively and defensively for the Friars. In the circle, Towmey compiled a 1.27 ERA over 11.0 innings pitched. She struck out nine batters and only conceded six hits and two earned runs. At the plate, Twomey recorded a .600 batting average, including three hits, a .800 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage. She also aided the Friars with two runs scored. It marked Twomey's fourth BIG EAST weekly honors of this season.
