MILWAUKEE, WIS. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated Marquette, 13-10, on Saturday, April 13 in Milwaukee, Wis. The Friars improved to 6-6 overall, including a 2-1 in the BIG EAST. The Golden Eagles dropped to 4-8 (0-3 BIG EAST).
Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) paced the Friars' offense with eight points on three goals and five assists.
1st Quarter:
- The Friars outscored Marquette, 5-3, in the first quarter.
- The teams exchanged a pair of goals to start the quarter.
Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) and
Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) were responsible for the Friars' goals.
- Horrigan scored his second goal of the game off a feed from
Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.).
- Marquette answered with a goal less than a minute later.
- Providence scored two goals to close the quarter.
Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass.) and
Frankie Carroll (East Setauket, N.Y.) each scored.
- Providence led 7-4 in shots on goal after the first quarter.
2nd Quarter:
- Providence used a 5-0 run to take the 9-6 lead heading into halftime.
- The Friars went on a 3-0 run to extend their scoring streak to 5-0. Bell,
Rhett Chambers (Longmeadow, N.Y.) and Chabra scored the goals.
- The Golden Eagles closed out the second quarter on a 3-1 run. Chabra scored the goal for Providence.

James Corasaniti (New York, N.Y.) made four saves in the second quarter.
3rd Quarter:
- Providence claimed an 11-7 lead through the first three quarters of play.
- Marquette opened the quarter with a goal before Horrigan answered at the 11:47 mark of the quarter.

Patrick McAleavey (Trumbull, Conn.) scored for the Friars with a minute remaining in the quarter off a feed from Bell.
- Providence led in shots (13-6), shots on goal (10-5) and ground balls (9-5) in the third quarter
4th Quarter
- Providence held onto its lead to claim the 13-10 win.
- The Golden Eagles scored consecutive goals to start the fourth quarter to make it 11-9.
- Bell scored two goals in the final six minutes to give the Friars a comfortable lead to close ot the game.
Notes:
- Bell had a team-high seven points on two goals and five assists. His five-assist put him at 113 career assists and 160 career points. He is the current all-time assist leader for Providence College and is fourth in career points.
- Bell has recorded 39 assists this season, which is three shy of the single season record set by Kyle Ojakian in 2002. Ojakian set the single-season mark with 42 assists.
- Bell has scored five-or-more points in seven games this season, including four games with seven or more. Additionally, he has had consecutive games of at least seven points. He recorded eight in last week's victory over Villanova.
- Chabra and Horrigan each had three goals.
- Chabra has scored a hattrick in two of the Friars' three BIG EAST games for a total of seven goals.
- Horrigan recorded his third hattrick of the season and first in BIG EAST play.
- Corasaniti finished the game with 11 saves.
- The Friars led in shots (37-33) and shots on goal (25-21)
