FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 6/5 Duke University, 21-5 on Saturday, March 14 in Farmingdale, N.Y. Providence moved to 3-5 on the season, while Duke improved to 7-0. Richie Jospeh (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored two goals for the Friars.
Jack Bonello (Great Falls, Va.) matched his career-best in assists with two.
1st Quarter:
• Duke opened the game with an early goal and took a 1-0 lead (13:29).

Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) responded with a man-up goal that tied the game at one (10:05).
• The Blue Devils closed the opening quarter on a 3-0 run and took a 4-1 lead.
2nd Quarter:
• Duke scored three-straight goals to open the second quarter and extended its scoring run to 6-0. The Blue Devils led 7-1 (10:05).

Matt Lazzaro (Franklin, Mass.) stopped the Blue Devils' run with a man-up goal on a feed from Bonello. Providence trailed 7-2 (2:27).
• Duke scored with seven seconds remaining in the first half and took an 8-2 lead into the break.

Chris Esposito went 4-8 from the faceoff 'X' in the first half.
• The Blue Devils registered seven caused turnovers in the first half.
3rd Quarter:
• Duke opened the second half with a quick man-up goal and extended its lead to seven. The Blue Devils followed with six-straight goals and extended their third quarter scoring run to 7-0. Providence trailed 15-2 (3:04).
• Joseph scored with 11 seconds remaining in the third and got the Friars on the board. Providence trailed 15-3 at the end of the third.
4th Quarter
• Joseph and
Stone Evans (Hartford, Conn.) added goals for the Friars in the final quarter.
• Duke tallied six goals in the fourth and held a 21-5 lead as time expired.
Notes:
• Joseph scored a team-high two goals.
• Bonello matched his career-high in assists with two.
• Joseph is currently 15th on the Friars' all-time scoring list and ranks fifth on the all-time goals list. The senior owns 141 points on 106 goals and 35 assists in his career.
• Kyle Colsey scored a game-high five goals and added one assist for Duke. Ben Johnston and Liam Kershis each added hat-tricks for the Blue Devils.
•
Cannon Ridinger (Charlotte, N.C.) went 6-10 on faceoff opportunities. Esposito also recorded seven faceoff wins as the Friars went 13-29 on faceoff opportunities.
• Duke generated extra possessions with 14 caused turnovers that contributed to its scoring advantage.
• The Blue Devils outscored the Friars 13-3 in the second half.
