QUEENS, N.Y. – The Friars got out to a slow start offensively in the first half enroute to a 60-42 loss at St. John's on Feb. 24 at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, N.Y. The Friars dropped to 12-17 (6-10 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 16-13 (10-7 BIG EAST).
1ST QUARTER:
•
Olivia Olsen scored the first bucket of the game just 29-seconds in, but the team went scoreless for the next four minutes.
•
Marta Morales Romero got Providence back on track with a short jumper with 5:01 on the clock (4-4).
• Providence suffered another lengthy scoring drought to close the quarter (4:18), while St. John's carried a 12-5 lead into the intermission.
2ND QUARTER:
• St. John's got out to a 12-point lead, but the Friars responded with an 8-2 spurt to get within five (19-14) with 4:29 on the clock.
• The Friars were scoreless for the final 4:29 of the second quarter, while the Red Storm pushed out to a 17-point halftime lead with the help of a 12-0 run (31-14).
3RD QUARTER:
• The Friars started the third with a 9-3 scoring edge to get within 11 (34-23) with 6:08 to play.
• The Friars cut the deficit to single-digits with 2:22 on the clock with a 5-0 spurt (36-28), including four-straight points from
Nariah Scott.
• Back-to-back threes by the Red Storm during a span of 42-seconds gave St. John's some breathing room (42-28).

Grace Efosa hit a long-distance three for Providence as time expired in the quarter to make it a 42-31 game.
4TH QUARTER:
• At the fourth quarter media (6:06), the Red Storm held a 47-36 lead.
• A 7-2 spurt by the Red Storm forced a Friar timeout with 3:12 to play (54-38).
• Providence was held without a field goal during the final 3:02 of regulation.
• St. John's outscored Providence, 18-11, in the fourth quarter overall to claim the 60-42 victory.
NOTES:
• Olsen recorded her 11
th double-double of the season on 13 points and 10 rebounds. She also added two steals and two blocked shots.
• With her 10 boards, Olsen moved into 22
nd all-time in rebounding at Providence, with 607. She jumped ahead of Mi-Khida Hankins '11, who finished her career with 602.
• Efosa was the only other Friar in double figures with 12 points.
• Providence shot 32-percent for the game (16-49), while the Red Storm checked in at 40-percent (23-57).
• The Friars were out-rebounded for just the third time in BIG EAST regular-season play, 38-32.

• The Friars close the regular-season schedule with a pair of home games at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. against Seton Hall (Feb. 28) and No. 15/13 Connecticut (Mar. 2).
