PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated Brown, 12-11, in overtime on Saturday Feb. 24 in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 2-2 on the season while the Bears dropped to 0-3.
Jack Horrigan scored the game-winning goal for the Friars.
1st Quarter:
- Brown outscored Providence, 3-2, in the first quarter.
- The Bears scored two unanswered goals to start the game.

Ryan Bell answered with a goal for the Friars off a feed from
Gregg Dennison with 5:44 left in the quarter.
- The two teams shared goals to make it 3-2 Brown.
Richie Joseph scored an unassisted goal for the Friars.
- The Friars outshot the Bears, 17-11, in the first quarter.
2nd Quarter:
- Providence went into halftime with a 7-6 lead.

Patrick McAleavey scored six seconds into the quarter to tie the game, 3-3, before Brown answered with a quick goal of its own.
- The Friars scored three unanswered goals to take their first lead of the game. Joseph was responsible for two of the goals while McAleavey scored one.
- The Bears scored with 8:35 left in the half, before
Michael Chabra scored his first goal of the game to give the Friars a 7-5 lead.
- Brown scored with 45 second left in the half to get the game within one goal at 7-6.
- Bell had four points on one goal and three assists at the half.
3rd Quarter:
- The Bears outscored the Friars, 2-1, in the third quarter to tie the game at 8-8
- Chabra scored his second goal of the game 46 second into the second half to give the Friars a two-goal lead.
- The Bears score two unanswered goals to tie the game at 8-8.

James Corasaniti had four saves in the third quarter for the Friars.
4th Quarter
- Brown scored 40 seconds into the fourth quarter to extend its scoring streak to three and take a one goal lead.
- Joseph scored his fourth goal of the game to tie the game at 9-9. Bell collected his fourth assists of the day on the goal.
- The Bears scored back-to-back goals to take an 11-9 lead.
- Chabra scored two goals in the last minute of the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Overtime
- Horrigan scored off a feed from Bell 42 seconds into overtime to win the game.
Notes:
- Bell paced the way for the Friars' offense with six points on one goal and five assists. His five assists moved him into fifth place on the Friars all-time assists list with 84.
- Chabra and Joseph each recorded four goals
- Corasaniti recorded 11 saves
- This marks the Friars' first win over Brown since 2022, when they won 13-12.
What's Next: The Friars travel to Fairfield on Saturday, March 2 to face Fairfield. Faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
