FAIRFIELD, CONN. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Fairfield, 14-12, on Saturday, March 2 in Fairfield, Conn. The Friars dropped to 2-3 on the season, while the Stags improved to 2-3.
Richie Joseph paced the Friars' offense with four goals and one assist. It marked his third game of the season with four goals.
1st Quarter:
- Fairfield outscored Providence, 7-4, in the first quarter.
- Fairfield scored two goals in the first 36-seconds of the game to take an early 2-0 lead.

Parker Kennedy (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) scored his first career goal to cut the score to 2-1.
Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) earned the assist.
- The Stags responded with four-unanswered goals to take a five-goal lead.

Patrick McAleavey (Trumbull, Conn.),
Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass.), and
Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass.) each scored for Providence in the final 4:30 of the quarter. The Friars went into the second quarter with a three goal deficit.
2nd Quarter:
- Both teams were scoreless through the first eight minutes of the second quarter.
- Joseph scored his second goal of the game off a feed from
Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) to cut the deficit to 7-5.
- Fairfield answered with back-to-back goals to take a four-goal lead heading into halftime.
- Providence outshot Fairfield, 23-15, in the first half.
3rd Quarter:
- The Friars outscored the Stags, 4-3, in the third quarter.

Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) scored the first goal of the second half to help Providence get within three (9-6).
- The Stags scored three-straight goals to extend their lead to 12-6.
- The Friars went on a 3-0 run to close the quarter and cut the score to 12-9. Joseph scored two of the three goals during the span and
Chris Cusolito (Melrose, Mass.) added the remaining goal. Bell assisted on each of Joseph's goals.
4th Quarter
- Providence outscored Fairfield, 3-2, in the fourth quarter.
- Chambers scored his first goal of the game to make it 12-10 with 12:55 remaining in the quarter.
- The teams exchanged goals as Fairfield claimed a 13-11 lead. Cusolito scored his second goal of the game off a feed from Joseph.
- Cusoltio scored his third goal of the game with 1:38 left in the fourth quarter.
Notes:
- Joseph recorded a team-high four goals. He has scored a season-high four goals in three games this season.
- Cusoltio earned his second hattrick of the season after his three goal performance.
- Bell registered a team-best four assists. He currenty ranks fifth on the Friars all-time assist record (88) and 15
th on the all-time scoring list (128).
- The Friars outscored the Stags, 7-5, in the second half.
